Session description:
Join Tony as he provides an overview of blended and digital learning, setting a framework for the 2-day symposium following. In his talk, Tony will:
- identify core 21st Century skills and why they are important for today's teachers;
- provide background research on what we know about skills development;
- indicate how blended and open education can facilitate the development of such skills; and
- demonstrate how this affects course and curriculum design.
During his presentation, Tony will touch on notions related to online design for indigenous learning, especially a need for new design and development models.
Tony will leave us with three or four action items to take forward for our dialogue and deliberations during the next two days of the symposium.
Tony will draw on some of the work already published in his online book
Teaching in a Digital Age.
