Martin Plante, the creator of GeoHistory Map, an application that works with Google maps, invites you to come and join him to learn a new way to teach history. This new approach combines a timeline with a map, along with additional information on each event. During this presentation, you will receive a login so that you can use and try GeoHistory Map yourself.  GeoHistory Map permits you to teach history in a new interactive way. You will discover how easy and fast it is to learn how to use it.

How the program works: Students can search different historical events based on any word(s), and GeoHistory Map will create a timeline and interactive map with those events in seconds. From there, they can explore each event from the timeline or map to find more information about that event. They can see an animation, video or image, informational text and can follow the source link(s) for more information.   In a presentation to the Lester B Pearson School Board in Montreal, GeoHistory Map received a thumbs up by 20 out of 21 social study teachers at the presentation. Now, these teachers are all using GeoHistory Map in their classroom to teach social studies to their students. They discovered how easy and interactive this new application is, with over 800 events about Canada and the USA, with the animations, images, videos, and links.

GeoHistory Map also includes free educational material for teachers.  Modules can be downloaded about specific historical topics that use GeoHistory Map as the resource to help answer each question.

Join Martin in this presentation to learn how you can use GeoHistory Map with your students!
